MOBILE SCREENING UNIT TO DETECT BREAST CANCER IN GAZA FUNDRAISER

by United in Humanity

The team of United in Humanity is working with the Augusta VIctoria Hospital and others to raise funds to start a mobile clinic for breast cancer screening and to provide mammagrams to women in camps and poverty areas in Gaza.

In Palestine, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer related deaths among women. In Gaza, per the WHO, breast cancer accounts for 31.3% of all reported cancer occurrences among Palestinian women. This is related to women diagnosed at advanced stages of the disease due to lack of resources, education, poverty, society, cultural beliefs, fear, and lack of awareness of the disease. This mobile unit will be operated and managed by the Augusta Victoria hospital and doctors. The AVH will then provide care and treatment to all women who need it. The goal is to have women mammographers go women's homes and provide these free mammograms and get a detailed assessment and history of the women who are being screened. The staff and doctors at the AVH hospital will them coordinate care and provide treatment for these women. Early detection can help save mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives lives. We need your help to be able to build this clinic and help women fight the disease at an early stage and better their chances of survival.
